What is matcha?
Matcha is a type of green tea that is shade grown and finely ground into a powdered form. It originated in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and later became an integral part of Japanese tea culture, particularly in traditional tea ceremonies. Matcha is made typically from the Camellia sinensis plant variety known as tencha.

Shizuoka, The Green Tea Capital
We discovered our single origin matcha in the prefecture of Shizuoka, where the rich soil and diverse climate are ideal for growing tea. Shizuoka is located about midway between Osaka and Tokyo. The region produces nearly half of the green tea consumed in Japan, yet remains somewhat of a hidden gem. We work directly with a small family farm to source a first flush, non-GMO special cultivar. Our matcha is JAS certified and harvested without the use of chemical pesticides. We are proud to source nothing but the most premium quality.
